January 22nd, 1990- Abdul collects the Favorite Pop/Rock Female Vocalist, and Favorite Dance Artist trophies, at the 17th annual American Music Awards, and performs "The Way That You Love Me" during the ceremony, held at the Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles.  On returning home to her Studio City condominium, she discovers thieves have stolen $3,400 worth of jewelry.

February 3rd- "Forever Your Girl" returns to US #1, after 81 weeks on the chart.

February 10th- "Opposites Attract," credited with the Wild Pair and including a rap from Soul Purpose's Derrick Delite, helped by an inventive real life/cartoon-integrated music video, tops the US charts.

March 8th- Abdul's latest awards include Best Female Singer, Best New Female Singer, Best Dressed Female Rock Artist and Sexiest Female Rock Artist in the 1989 Rolling Stone Readers' Picks.

March 12th- "Opposites Attract" is certified gold by the RIAA.

March 26th- Paula choreographs the dance routines at the 62nd annual Academy Awards, held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, the latest commission in her parallel choreographic career, which now also includes a scene in the Kevin Costner movie "Bill Durham," Eddie Murphy's "Coming to America," George Michael's "Monkey" video and other award shows, including four MTV ceremonies.

April 8th- Lawsuit filed by session-singer Yvette Marine, who claims shared lead vocals on two tracks off Abdul's "Forever Your Girl" album.

May 5th- "Opposites Attract" hits UK #2.

May 12th- "Forever Your Girl" re-enters the UK chart at its #3 peak, having initially charted in April of 1989.

May 16th- Elliot Wolff wins the Song of the Year award for "Straight Up" at the seventh annual ASCAP pop awards dinner at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel, Beverly Hills, CA.

June 16th- A remix re-shuffle of her debut albun, "Shut Up & Dance", hits US #7.

July- Paula Abdul is photographed with her idol and dance icon Gene Kelly, by Annie Leibovitz for Vanity Fair magazine. Abdul's star status now includes lucrative sponsorship and advertising deals with L.A. Gear, Diet Coke and Reebok.

July 23rd- The RIAA certifies US sales of seven million of "Forever Your Girl" (it becomes the first debut album to have featured four #1's) and platinum sales of "Shut Up & Dance (The Mixes).

July 28th- Shep Pettibone remix of "Knocked Out" reaches UK #21.

September 25th- The RIAA certifies that the "Straight Up" video has reached the 200,000 sales plateau.

October 6th- "Cold Hearted" makes UK #46.

November 10th- "Shut Up & Dance" peaks at UK #40.

December 9th- Driving her Jaguar, Abdul rear ends another car on Laurel Canyon Blvd in Los Angeles and is taken to the North Hollywood Medical Center.

December 22nd- Abdul wins Top Pop Album Artist, Female in Billboard's "The Year In Music" survey.
