Paula Abdul in tug-of-war between rival Strip hotels for her new show

Jun 15th, 2009

American Idol judge Paula Abdul sits in an enviable position this morning. She’s the subject of a bidding war between rival Strip hotels for a new talent and variety show headed for the Strip -- and that’s even before she decides whether to keep her day job with Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson!

Vegas DeLuxe has learned that Paula received private, behind-the-scenes tours at both Wayne Brady’s Theater in The Venetian and at the Danny Gans Theater in Steve Wynn’s Encore. Paula also saw The Peepshow Theater in Planet Hollywood. Scott Zeiger, co-CEO of BASE Entertainment, escorted Paula at all three Strip venues.

Scott is the mastermind behind Jersey Boys, Phantom -- the Las Vegas Spectacular and Wayne Brady’s improv shows at the neighboring Palazzo and Venetian and Peepshow and the Theater for the Performing Arts in Planet Hollywood.

It’s not clear exactly what show format is being developed by BASE with and for Paula, but we do know it will play off her skills as a top TV personality, singer, choreographer and talent scout. She was originally to open her own outdoor summer theater at the Silverton Casino Lodge a year ago, but that expansion was postponed due to the economic slowdown.

While here in Las Vegas, Paula dined with Scott at Strip House in Planet Hollywood and watched the Wayne Brady show.
