Perhaps you’ve been wondering what Paula Abdul has been up to, now that she no longer has “American Idol” as a platform for acting erratic.

As it happens, she’s collaborated with Finnish act Shine 2009, singing on the song “So Free” from the lounge duo’s forthcoming full-length debut, “Realism.”

It’s a super-glossy tune, with busy percussion, a hyper-compressed bulgy bass sound straight out of the ’80s, smooth-jazz horns and breathy vocals, dotted with atmospheric interjections from Abdul, who released three studio albums between 1988-95, including her 7-times platinum first album, “Forever Your Girl.”

Shine 2009’s publicist says Abdul happened to be a fan of the group, which releases “Realism” later this month. It’s the follow-up to the duo’s 2009 debut, “Associates EP.”

Alas, the Rick Astley-worthy video features only her vocals and not Abdul herself, though it’s a little hard to look away from those sweaters.
