Paula Abdul and Chandra West Star In "THE WAITING GAME" on August 8 

Los Angeles, CA, May 27, 1998 -- THE MOVIE CHANNEL is bringing added star power to its series of Harlequin romance movies produced by Alliance Communications.

On Saturday, August 8 at 9:00 PM (ET/PT) THE MOVIE CHANNEL will debut HARLEQUIN'S THE WAITING GAME which co-stars Paula Abdul and Chandra West in a teleplay written by Barbara O'Kelley and Peter Lauterman and Jennifer Black.

HARLEQUIN'S THE WAITING GAME tells the story of two young women, Sarah (CHANDRA WEST) and Amy (PAULA ABDUL), best friends since college, who mount their first art show at their gallery in a small New England town. 

Though Sarah is engaged to "the perfect guy" and Amy feigns disinterest, both are subconsciously searching for true romance.  When enigmatic strangers -- each proclaiming the other to be dangerous -- enter their lives, a mystery involving drugs, the CIA and Sarah's beloved uncle unfolds. 

HARLEQUIN'S THE WAITING GAME is an exclusive presentation of THE MOVIE CHANNEL from Alliance Communications/Second Wave Productions. 

Jennifer Black and Peter Lauterman are executive producers with Gilles Belanger serving as producer. Vic Sarin (HARLEQUIN'S HARD TO FORGET and SHOWTIME's IN HIS FATHER'S SHOES) serves as both cinematographer and director.

International superstar Paula Abdul has received numerous awards for her singing and dancing including a Grammy, three American Music Awards, six MTV Awards and three People's Choice Awards. In addition to awards shows and television specials, she has appeared on the television series "Cybill" and "The Single Guy." She recently made her dramatic television debut in the movie "In the Shadow of Evil."

Chandra West's television credits include SHOWTIME's UNIVERSAL SOLDIER, "A Face to Die For" and "Lonesome Dove." She has appeared in the television series "Viper," "Picket Fences" and "Highlander."
